Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly last propelled Kansas State to a win in 2011 — but the duo reconvened to lift K-State’s alumni team in The Basketball Tournament to a win Saturday morning.

Pullen and Kelly each posted 17 points in Purple and Black’s 79-70 win over Canton, good for a spot in the next round against the Hilton Magic Legends (Iowa State alumni) at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The fourth-seeded Purple and Black got 15 points from Stefhon Hannah and 11 from Thomas Gipson, who also snared a team-best 12 rebounds in the win.

Purple and Black took a 40-33 lead into halftime.

The K-State alumni trailed by one with less than 90 seconds to play, but Kelly’s and-1 — assisted by Pullen — gave Purple and Black the lead.

Jamar Samuels, who carded two points, was limited to 6 minutes after leaving mid-game with an injury, a photo of which he posted on Twitter after the game:

This story will be updated when an update on Samuels becomes available.
