Isaiah Maurice dismissed from K-State basketball team

Weber cites violation of team rules as reason for dismissal.

Kansas State men’s basketball coach Bruce Weber announced Thursday that sophomore forward Isaiah Maurice has been dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.

“There are standards of conduct required to be a member of our program, and there are consequences when those standards aren’t met,” K-State coach Bruce Weber said. “Isaiah did not meet his responsibilities, and unfortunately this is the result.”

Maurice’s dismissal represents a serious hit to post depth for the Wildcats, who lost D.J. Johnson to graduation. Last season, Maurice averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds per game. In the last seven games, though, he averaged 6.9 points per game on 64.3 percent shooting.

The loss of Maurice means K-State will depend even more on newcomers James Love III, Nigel Shadd, and Makol Mawien to relieve the burden on Dean Wade.
