And then, that happened.
Let's not freak out too much; after all, Thomas Gipson definitely has the body and athleticism to be a tight end, and it's also not unheard of at all for college basketball players to end up in the NFL doing that very thing. Tony Gonzalez, anyone?
But this one came out of nowhere, as we've never had any indication that Big Gip had inclinations of that stripe. Probably nothing will come of this, but it's fun to think about. More importantly, however, it may be indicative of a growing institutional relationship between K-State and the Packers.
Obviously, the Packers admire the football program under Bill Snyder. They've got Jordy Nelson up there and understand exactly what Bill Snyder is able to do with unheralded talent. Could they be so enamored with the program that a call to come look at a senior basketball player gets taken seriously?
'Cause, you know, scouting time is valuable. Or was this simply in conjunction with a Packer visit to work out Tyler Lockett, B.J. Finney, and/or other Wildcats?
