Just to clear things up, I'm not off schedule. It turns out my count was off and I started the countdown two days early.
So even though I missed a couple of entries over the weekend, I actually only missed one day of the countdown, and there's no No. 97 on the roster anyway, so no harm, no foul, right?
We will now return to our regularly scheduled programming...
Ray Price |
Position: Defensive Tackle Previous College: Cerritos College Projection: Third-String Status: On Scholarship |
Raymon Price (b. Sept. 13, 1994) is a junior college defensive tackle who redshirted in 2013 and then played the following two seasons at Cerritos College. He wore No. 94 there, but I project him to wear No. 96 at Kansas State.
Price played for Long Beach Poly High School under head coach Raul Lara. He earned all-league honors as a junior after helping the Jackrabbits to earn a 10-2 record and a league championship.
The defensive tackle, who played in the 605 All-Star Game following his senior year, also participated in wrestling.
After his redshirt season, Price played two seasons for Cerritos College under head coach Frank Mazzotta. He recorded 65 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks in his two-year career, spanning 20 games.
Last season, Price helped to lead the Falcons to a National Division Northern Conference championship and a berth in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
An outstanding sophomore, Price was named National Division Northern Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned first-team All-California Region III honors after carding 49 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks.
Price had at least half a sack in a five-game stretch, culminating with a 3.5-sack performance against El Camino; ended his season strong by recording at least six tackles in three of his last four games, including seven-tackle games against Moorpark and Long Beach City; and forced three fumbles in 2015, including two against Moorpark.
He had a season-high three tackles as a freshman in 2014 against Fullerton, College of the Canyons and Santa Barbara. The Falcons won the Golden State Bowl that year.
Price follows in the footsteps of fellow Cerritos College alum and former K-State defensive end Alauna Finau, who was a member of the 2012 Big 12 Championship team. Price's cousin, Ejuan, is a defensive lineman at Pittsburgh.
