SLATE: Basketball gets ready for new season

Plus yet another award for King Felix

NCAA Basketball: Big 12 Conference Tournament-Kansas State vs Baylor Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Basketball

The Kansas State men’s basketball program held it’s annual media day in-person (for the first time since 2019) on Monday, and Coach Bruce Weber and players were on hand to discuss the upcoming 2021-22 season. And it’s approaching fast, with the Wildcats lone exhibition game scheduled for this Thursday night at 7pm CT against the Gorillas of Pittsburg State.

Weber is excited about his squad, and doesn’t expect to have the same starting five every game, as they will be able to mix-and-match lineups to best face opponents, as well as reward good work in practice and games. The players are ready for the season, including transfer Mark Smith, who is ready to make the most of his final season.

Football

Lost yesterday in all the praise for Felix Anudike-Uzomah, the game time for K-State’s next home game has been set. While the TV partners waited an extra week to tell us that this weekend’s game is an 11am kickoff on FS1 (which we all knew was coming anyway), they were fine with going ahead and putting the November 13th meeting with West Virginia at the same time, on the same channel. Just pray we don’t get Tim Brando on the call.

Oh, and the praise for King Felix isn’t over, as just this morning The Maxwell Football Club announced he was named the Bednarik Award Player of the Week, giving Anudike-Uzomah his third award of the week, and the second national award for his performance against TCU.
