SLATE: Ladies’ Day

New, 21 comments

Not surprisingly for a bye week, it’s almost a football-free Thursday Slate.

Unanimous yet again.

It’s a very short Slate today, but there’s news to share.

Our only football hit today is yesterday’s article from Ryan Black at the Mercury explaining what the “late arriving information” was that led to the overturning of the onside kick on Saturday. It’s paywalled, but if you’re a subscriber it’s worth catching.

On to the ladies.

For the second season in a row, Ayoka Lee is a unanimous selection to the women’s basketball preseason All-Big 12 team. No other Wildcats even received honorable mention nods, sadly. Lee is only a junior, and a super-junior at that, so we may be making this post two more times before she’s done here.

Yesterday, JT reported on Caylee Thornhill’s selection as Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for her game-winning overtime goal against Kansas. Today in Sports Extra, D. Scott Fritchen covers the goal, as well as the reactions of Thornhill, her teammates, and the staff. For those who haven’t seen the goal, there’s embedded video within the article.

That’s it. Enjoy your bye weekend. HQ out.
