Football
Kansas State (0-1, 0-0) is in Norman today to open the Big 12 season against #3 Oklahoma (1-0, 0-0). Kickoff is scheduled for 11 AM, and the game will air on FOX. All the important gameday details are in the HOW TO WATCH post, courtesy of Jon Morse.
Predictions? Yep, we got those.
— ESPN gives the Wildcats only a 14% chance of victory, and honestly, that doesn’t even feel like DISRESPECT at this point.
— The CBSSports team expects Kansas State to cover the 28.5 points spread, so that’s something.
— Closer to home, Kellis Robinett of the Wichita Eagle/Kansas City Star expects the Sooners to win by three touchdowns, but also, he knows his audience and adds the all-important never-say-never caveat.
— Drew Schneider provides a timely reminder that the game could get ugly, but we should keep things in perspective and enjoy this season as the exhibition season it will probably turn into.
In other news, Skylar Thompson is apparently dinged up enough to have missed practices last week. He will play today, of course, but it would not be a total surprise if Will Howard made another in-game appearance against the Sooners. Also, the Wildcats are likely to have running back Jacardia Wright back for the game, and Briley Moore could have another good game. Wykeen Gill and Joshua Youngblood are also expected to see the field today after missing Kansas State’s last game.
Volleyball
The VolleyCats are finally back in action. They took the court against Iowa State yesterday, and although Kansas State lost 3-2 (25-22, 25-20, 19-25, 15-25, 16-14), it was not all in vain. Brynn Carlson had 19 kills to lead the team and senior transfer Shelby Martin had 60 assists and 12 digs, notching a double-double in her debut match as a Wildcat. The two-match series against the Cyclones concludes today. First serve is at 6:30 PM.
