Football isn’t the only fall sport getting ready for their season. K-State soccer, entering it’s fifth season of action in 2020, finally has a schedule to release. The affects of restrictions related to COVID are very clear, with the Wildcats (and the rest of the conference) playing just a 9-game conference-only schedule, with one Friday night game per week through the first Friday in November. There is some time built in to the back end of schedule that would allow for a conference tournament, but the Big 12 has yet to announce if there will (or won’t) be a tournament for soccer. The Cats open the 2020 season on Sept. 11th, hosting 2019 Big 12 regular season runners-up Texas Tech.
Of course, the next day is the season opener for K-State football, and as part of fall practice K-State coaches and select players addressed the media on Tuesday to provide updates as we head towards the start of the season. There was lots of praise for true freshmen Deuce Vaughn and Will Howard, and a great quote from sophomore defensive back Wayne Jones on playing for Coach Klieman.
After a bit of a lull in recruiting, the Wildcats have picked up three new members of the 2021 class in the last three days. Krew Jackson, a 3-star 6’5” 200lb DB/LB from Queen Creek, AZ became the latest athlete to pledge his services to Klieman and the Wildcats, over offers from Arizona State, Boise State, BYU, Iowa State, and Michigan State among many others. Be on the lookout for a more complete overview from Drew of the newest Wildcat.
