Since news broke last weekend that Scottie Hazelton was leaving Manhattan to join the coaching staff at Michigan State, fans have speculated that Coach Klieman may opt to promote an internal candidate to fill the vacated defensive coordinator position. Those suspicions were confirmed yesterday, when Klieman announced that safeties coach Joe Klanderman will become the new defensive coordinator. Fellow assistant Van Malone will add the titles of assistant head coach and passing game coordinator to his position as cornerbacks coach. The team is now in the market for a new linebackers coach, which was Hazelton’s positional area of focus.

The men’s golf team shot a collective 2-under par Monday at the Colleton River Collegiate, moving up five spots to hold fifth place at 8-over, one stroke behind 4th place Memphis. Sophomore Will Hopkins led the charge, firing a 4-under 68.

The K-State women will make their final road trip of the season tonight when they face the Oklahoma State Cowgirls in Stillwater. At 14-13, 8-8 Big 12, the Wildcats look to cement an above-.500 record and to improve their position—currently tied for 4th with Iowa State—in the league standings. The Cowgirls beat K-State by 7 in their first meeting this season, on January 15.

K-State Sports Extra features starting pitcher Connor McCullough, who transferred from Arkansas and has been brilliant through his first three starts as a Wildcat, posting a 2-0 record and a 0.95 ERA.
