Slate: Last Hump Day Until Wildcat Football

We’re almost there!!

#71 Dalton Risner Scott Sewell-USA TODAY Sports

The Slate is running a bit late today, so let’s jump right in.

We’ve finally got some position previews for you, with Jon delivering the breakdown of the defensive backs yesterday and JT getting you caught up on the lack of a “situation” at quarterback early this morning. We’ll have the rest for you as the week progresses.

Speaking of quarterbacks, Kellis has his story up on Skylar Thompson and the difference the new coaching staff has made in terms of Thompson’s confidence and growth. Thompson is also happy that his former teammate (and roommate) Alex Delton was named the starting QB at TCU for their opener, showing there is no love lost there even after Delton’s transfer. Kellis also reports that K-State football is looking more deeply into neutral site games, ostensibly in order to help recruiting and promote the brand.

K-State Soccer is set for their home opener for 2019, and will open the brand new Buser Family Park on Thursday night as the Wildcats take on Arkansas State at 7pm before completing the weekend against South Dakota State on Sunday at 1pm.

There will be plenty of festivites on Saturday, and that includes the 2019 Big 12 Champion basketball squad being honored for their accomplishment last season. Dean Wade and Barry Brown Jr. will join their teammates on the field to be honored, but Kamau Stokes will have to miss the event as he is headed to Poland to begin practice with a pro team there.
