We didn’t have a Slate yesterday because there was literally nothing to report. Today? Well, today is Pi Approximation Day, or 22/7 in certain backward nomenclatures. It’s also the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta, and it’s Alex Trebek’s 79th birthday.
(True story: earlier this morning on World News Now, they ran a brief happy birthday story for Trebek and then went to commercial... and it was a Colonial Penn ad. Yikes.)
Pretty exciting stuff, yeah? But since we can’t let you reprobates go two whole days without a Slate, we had to run with something this morning. There hasn’t even been an entry in BracketCat’s countdown over those two days because there’s no 41 on the Kansas State roster.
There actually are a couple of items worth mentioning, although neither warrants an actual headline.
Where are you now? File: Mitch Gaspard, who hung around Tointon for a year after getting ejected from the head coaching job at Alabama, has been hired as the hitting instructor and recruiting coordinator at Louisiana Tech. (official site)
Scott Wright at the Oklahoman offers up a handy list of important transfers both in and out of the Big 12 for the upcoming football season.
And with that, we invite you to Open Thread Monday. You’re welcome to have fun and yammer on about anything. Except, you know, the stuff we frown at you for yammering on about. AHEM.
Before we go, though, another reminder to sign up for our weekly FanPulse Top 25 (and other occasional questions). Come on, it’ll be fun. Don’t be shy and don’t feel like your opinion isn’t worthwhile. After all, we live in a republic where KU fans are allowed to vote on important things!
