It’s a bit of a slow Monday, but at least you have Luke Sobba’s Game of Thrones recap to look forward to later.

As for yesterday’s news, K-State jumped out to an early 7-0 lead at Baylor (32-13, 14-6) and held on for a 10-3 win in the series finale. The win leaves the Cats (23-26, 7-11) in eighth place in the Big 12, but only a game behind the three teams tied for fifth — Oklahoma, TCU, and Kansas, all at 8-10. There’s room to move up with two conference series remaining.

The first of those is this weekend, the home finale series against West Virginia. Before that, however, the Cats will probably pocket their final non-conference win of the season tomorrow night at Tointon as they host Texas Southern.

Basketball

Ryan Black at the Mercury reports on the commitment of point guard David Sloan, a JUCO transfer from John A. Logan College in Kentucky. Sloan, a three-star, averaged a double-double last year, and might be able to worm his way into the starting rotation. K-State managed to overcome efforts by Cincinnati and Georgetown to secure Sloan’s services.
