It’s late on a Friday, and all the editors are inexplicably busy, so we’ll keep it brief.
Basketball
The Men’s basketball squad held its annual awards banquet last night. The three seniors, Barry Brown, Dean Wade and Kamau Stokes, shared the team MVP honor.
Dead Wade gave details about how his latest injury occurred, and how he told the training staff he was not coming out of the game on senior night. He says he is trying learn from the carousel of injuries that plagued his last two years at K-State (whatever the lesson may be) and is focused on trying to make it to the NBA.
Football
There is a Spring Game Showcase tomorrow, and both the athletic department and the Mercury tell you what to expect.
Coaches are starting to expect big things out of Ball State graduate transfer James Gilbert. Kellis Robinett, meanwhile, ponders the impact of the Justin Hughes injury, among other topics, in his football Q&A.
Other sports
Women’s golf is in Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championship.
Baseball is at No. 14 Texas for a weekend series.
Track and Field has sent split contingents to the K.T. Woodman Classic in Wichita and the Triton Invitational in San Diego.
