sLate: Klieman Begins Tour of Wildcatland

Plus baseball in action tonight, and tennis earning recognition.

NCAA Football: Division I Football Championship-Eastern Washington vs North Dakota State Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Sorry we’re late today! Sometimes the grind kicks you in the rear.

Football

Now that the recruiting cycle has died down a bit, new Kansas State football Chris Klieman is starting to make his rounds around Wildcatland. His trip started with a visit to Garden City yesterday, and Klieman feels right at home in rural Kansas, where it seems to him to be similar to rural North Dakota in many ways (J. Levi Burnfin, GC Telegram). Today his stop was in Wichita, where a visit Wednesday afternoon with Wildcat fans highlighted a day filled with radio, TV, and print interviews (Taylor Eldridge, Eagle). KLieman will also be in Dallas soon, and besides being home to a large number of Wildcat alumni, it is also a prime recruiting ground, one that is definitely on his radar (Chuck Carlton, SportsDay/Dallas News).

Baseball

Fresh off a 2-2 start (all against CSUN) this weekend, the BatCats will continue to hang out in Southern California through the week and today will face off against California Baptist, who is in their first year as an NCAA Division 1 program. First pitch for tonight’s game against the Lancers is set for 8pm CST, and you can even watch it streaming online!

Tennis

The Big 12 Conference released their weekly awards on Tuesday, and K-State freshman Karine-Marion Job was named Big 12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week after a perfect weekend. Here 4-0 weekend, two doubles and two singles wins, helped the Wildcats to a pair of dual wins over the weekend against North Texas and Arizona.
