Basketball
We’ll start with the positive news from yesterday. K-State’s Dean Wade and Barry Brown were among 40 players named the to watch list for the Lute Olson National Player of the Year award. K-State was among just three schools nationally to have at least two players on the watch list, joining Gonzaga (2) and Virginia (2).
Over on the other side court, K-State Sports announced the start of the 2018-19 editions of “The Jeff Mittie Radio Show” , commencing Monday, Dec. 3rd; and “The Jeff Mittie Show”, starting off Monday, January 9th, 2019 on FOX Sports Midwest. The full schedule can be found at K-StateSports.com.
Football
Before we dive back in to the waiting game, K-State Sports has their weekly roundup of former Wildcats in the NFL. Of note: thanks to the dismissal of Reuben Foster from the 49ers, Elijah Lee started at LB and recorded a co-team-high 7 tackles and batted down 4 passes; and Tyler Lockett continued his stellar season, catching 5 passes for 107 yards and a TD (be sure and check out his celebration).
Here at Bring on the Cats, Derek Smith dropped in with some somber notes, that even if Bill Snyder returns next season, “Bill Snyder” The Legend is unfortunately not coming back. This morning Drew Schneider took a look at two similar situations from recent history; Bobby Bowden at Florida State and Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech. And while we’ve seen articles from newspaper writers like Kellis Robinett and Vahe Gregorian, opinion pieces at places like KSO, we’ve now got national writers chiming in too, this time it’s Mitch Sherman at ESPN commenting on the situation at Vanier.
And the wait creeps on.
