The NCAA D1 National Championship is underway, plus there’s a basketball game this afternoon

Football

The NCAA Division 1 National Football Championship is underway in Frisco, TX. FCS powerhouse North Dakota State is facing off with the current defending national champion James Madison. The game is available on ESPN2/ESPN3.

Back at home, the Wildcat football staff has secured the commitment from another in-state standout, as Overland Park Blue Valley Southwest’s Nick Allen accepted a preferred-walk-on spot at linebacker for the Cats. Allen was the Sports in Kansas 2017 5A DPoY.

Basketball

Wildcat fans should have all eyes set on Lubbock this afternoon. The BruceCats are in west Texas set to face off against the surprising Texas Tech Red Raiders, who are coming off a HUGE road victory over Kansas earlier this week. For it’s part, Tech is looking to maintain that momentum (Mitch Bradshaw, Viva the Matadors). Some dude named Greg Woods at the Manhattan Mercury reports that Chris Beard has “a lot of respect” for K-State coach Bruce Weber. On the K-State front, Ken Corbitt at the Capital-Journal reports that the Cats could go with a small lineup against Tech — though, to be honest, the Cats lineup is always on the small side thanks to the lack of a true post player. Last but not least, Kellis Robinett (via the Eagle) has his preview and how-to-watch guide.

Be sure and check back here closer to game time as we’ll have your live game thread, as per usual, so you can celebrate or commiserate with the group.

Track & Field

The Wildcats open their 2018 portion of the indoor season at home, as K-State hosts the Wildcat Invitational this weekend.
