Women’s Basketball
We’re going to start with women’s basketball today since their game won’t be televised for free. The MittieCats will travel to Ames, IA to take on Iowa State tonight at 6:30 pm. The game is available to watch (for a price) on Cylones.TV, while Smollervision will be the channel of choice on the radio. (kstatesports.com)
Kansas State may have only won one of their four game ranked team gauntlet, but they have held their past three opponents to an average of 17.8 points below their per game scoring average. This defensive improvement can be attributed to better communication on that end of the court. (Corbin McGuire, kstatesports.com)
From enemy territory, the issue facing Iowa State has been an inability to score. In their past two games they’ve shot a miserable 28% and 29% from the floor. Given K-State’s solid defenisve performance Iowa State could be in for another poor shooting night. (Dylan Montz, The Globe Gazette)
The difference in tonight’s game may come down to the zone. If Kansas State’s zone defense smother’s Iowa State expect a Wildcat win. If Iowa State senior Emily Durr and company can breakdown the Cat’s zone defense look for a Cyclone victory. (Jack MacDonald, Iowa State Daily)
Men’s Basketball
The men also have a game tonight as they host Oklahoma State in Bramlage at 7 pm. This game is televised on ESPNews. Look for a full how to watch post later in the day. (kstatesports.com)
The plan to redshirt Mike McGuirl was scrapped the minute Kamau Stokes injured his foot. That means Kansas State will turn to two freshman point guards (McGuirl, and Cartier Diarra) to replace the junior guard. (Kellis Robinett, Wichita Eagle)
The next seven days will likely clear up the Big 12 title race with the top three teams all playing each other. (John Gasaway, ESPN.com)
Tennis
Finally we end with the tennis team, as Women’s head coach Danielle Steinberg announced the promotion of Jordan Smith to associate head coach for the 2018 season. (kstatesports.com)
