Kansas State plays Charlotte today at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11:00 AM, and the game will air on FSN. For all the information you could possibly want about the game, look no further than Jon Morse’s Pregame Info post.
TB kicked the tires on the Charlotte 49ers. Spoiler alert: the Wildcats win.
This game will be a bit of a homecoming for at least one 49er, head coach Brad Lambert. The Hoxie native played defensive back at Kansas State back in the mid-80s. Things at Kansas State have changed a lot since then, and Lambert has nothing but admiration for Bill Snyder (Kevin Haskin, Topeka Capital-Journal).
The biggest challenge for the Wildcats today maybe just taking the opponent seriously enough to avoid costly mistakes and/or injuries. Linebackers Trent Tanking and Jayd Kirby will probably also be occupied with stopping 49ers quarterback Hasaan Klugh (Kellis Robinett, Wichita Eagle).
The Charlotte 49ers have a gold miner mascot, but why? This and other questions are answered in the weekly K-State Q&A (Robinett, Eagle).
Kicker Matthew McCrane, once a Groza-level kicker, has seen his career marred by injury. He missed parts of the last two seasons, but now he’s healthy and determined to bounce back. He had a miss in the last game but also nailed a 53-yarder later in the game (Ken Corbitt, Capital-Journal).
The Kansas State game is on the early card for today, but what else is on tap for this second weekend of college football? Well, a lot. Around the Big 12, there are a couple of big games that are of the must-watch variety. (All times CDT).
