Soccer
History was made last night. Kansas State soccer began its first-ever Big 12 campaign yesterday with a match against Texas Tech in Lubbock. Unfortunately, the Wildcats were not able to record their first conference win, losing to the Red Raiders 3-1.
The silver lining was Kansas State’s first conference goal ever. It came in the 87th minute of the match when a cross from forward Katie Cramer found midfielder Ashley Zane who found the net from six yards out.
The first conference play weekend continues for Kansas State as the team travels to Fort Worth next. The match against TCU is scheduled for Sunday at 1 PM and will be available on FoxSportsGo and FSN affiliates.
Volleyball
On Sunday, the VolleyCats will take on Kansas at Ahearn Field House in the latest edition of the Sunflower Showdown. This will be the Jayhawks Big 12 opener, and the game will be available on national television (ESPN2). First serve is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
Tickets are still available, and volleyball is super fun. So if you’re around, be sure to pack Ahearn to support the VolleyCats. Beat Kansas!
Football
You might think this is a bye week, but Kansas State football is definitely in action today against Minnesota (Not really).
The Wildcats are playing the Gophers right now somewhere in Des Moines (i.e. fake Iowa), for a totally (not) real trophy that involves making fun of Iowa.
Jon Morse has all the details right here. Don’t miss Kansas State winning (maybe).
Meanwhile, in decidedly less fake news, this weekend marks the official kickoff of Big 12 football in 2017. Here’s what our conference brethren are up to today:
— West Virginia (-22.5) at Kansas (ESPNU, 11 AM)
— Texas Tech (+6.5) at Houston (ABC/ESPN2, 11 AM)
— TCU (+13.0) at Oklahoma State (ESPN, 2:30 PM)
— Oklahoma (-28.0) at Baylor (FS1, 5:30 PM)
There’s plenty of other football action today too, so get ready for a Saturday of worry-free couch-sitting, TV watching, and hopefully, schadenfreude. Have fun!
