We’re less than two weeks from Kansas State football! BracketCat’s football roster countdown is down to a pair #14s punter Nick Walsh and quarterback Hunter Hall, and #13 linebacker Chase Johnston.
In yesterday’s Slate, the possibility of 10 wins for the football team was raised. Today, we’re more interested in your predictions for the season. What will the running game look like? Which win or loss will have the most impact? Who will be the breakout star for the team in 2017?
Along these same lines, KC KIngdom’s Jake Barbee makes five bold predictions for the season, including a possible run at the Heisman Trophy for Jesse Ertz.
Reggie Walker ended last season as the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year as voted by the coaches and was also named a Freshman All-American by the Football Writers’ Association of America. This year, he aims to be even better (Ken Corbitt, Topeka Capital-Journal).
The list of Hall of Fame football coaches at Kansas State is pretty short: Bill Snyder, Charlie Bachman, and one Lynn “Pappy” Waldorf, who coached at Kansas State in 1934. He only stayed for one season, but brought the Wildcats a Big Six title, the only conference crown for Kansas State until the first Big 12 title in 2003. The Oklahoman’s Berry Tramel has more on OSU’s greatest coach.
Finally, a word from Wendell Barnhouse on how Scott Frantz’s teammates helped keep his secret until he was ready to tell the world.
Happy Sunday, all!
