We’ve got a fair amount of football news today, and we’ll start with a pre-season Top 25 countdown. Kansas State checks in at #21 in the Austin American Statesman pre-season poll, which previews the best and worst case scenarios for the ‘Cats. (Suzanne Halliburton, American-Statesman)

It’s been 21 years since Oklahoma lost to Kansas State in Manhattan, but this year may be different as Lincoln Riley will come to the Little Apple for the first time as OU’s head coach. (Tyler Palmateer, Norman Transcript)

Junior offensive lineman Dalton Risner has been named a nominee for the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team. Risner’s nomination continues a streak since 2012 of a Wildcat being nominated to the Good Works Team. (kstatesports.com)

Finally, in case you missed the news in yesterday’s slate, both Jesse Ertz and D.J. Reed were placed on the pre-season watch list for the Maxwell and Bednarik awards, respectively.
