Today’s Slate is but one item:
To replace the departed Jacie Hoyt, now the head women’s basketball coach at UMKC, Jeff Mittie has reached into his bag of former employees and pulled out another one.
Jayci Stone, who actually earned her degree in Manhattan after her playing days ended, worked for Mittie for three years at TCU and now rejoins Mittie as an assistant at Bramlage. After Mittie came to K-State, Stone spent a year as an assistant at Southern Utah, followed by two years at Stephen F. Austin.
Before joining Mittie, Stone also worked as an assistant at Alaska-Anchorage, Frank Phillips College in Texas, and Hutchinson Community College. It was between her stops at Anchorage and Phillips that Stone received her K-State degree.
As a player, Stone began her career at Colby Community College, then transferred to New Mexico State before finishing up at Anchorage.
Mittie also announced a small re-allocation of staff resources. Ebony Gilliam, who’s spent the last three years as an assistant coach, will take over as coordinator of recruiting operations. Replacing her on the coaching roster will be last year’s director of student-athlete development, Chris Carr, whose daughter Christianna will join the Wildcats in the fall of 2018.
