You know it’s a slow news day when the Slate features a photo from a game in which Kansas State did not play, featuring a team against whom K-State is not playing today.
Of course, the Cats are playing Mississippi State next season, and that game will now be a game against a team which finished 2017 with a better record than the good guys. CLANGA improved to 9-4 with a 31-27 victory over Louisville in yesterday’s Taxslayer Bowl. As noted in the photo caption, Mark McLaurin had himself a day on defense for the Magnolia Dawgs, and was absolutely the difference in the game.
Our FARMAGEDDON brethren also did the Big 12 proud yesterday, as Allen Lazard caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Kempt with just under five minutes to go and Iowa State survived to snag a 21-20 win over 20th-ranked Memphis in the Liberty Bowl. That win leaves the Big 12 5-2 so far in bowls, with Oklahoma still on the clock.
Oh, and Penn State beat Washington and Wisconsin beat Miami and nobody cares about any of that here, right?
The only pending business, then, is K-State’s visit to Stillwater to take on the Cowgirls, about which we’ll have more later. In the meantime, you can feast on our own content from yesterday, including our staff roundtable discussing what we can expect after Friday’s blowout win at Iowa State and Luke Sobba’s capsules of the opening wave of Big 12 basketball play.
In addition to coverage of the women’s game, we’ll also have another roundtable for you this evening: the best and worst of 2017.
