Since yesterday was fairly quiet following the euphoria of the Cactus Bowl victory, we’ll jump right into the news today.
Basketball
First on the docket today — well technically the only thing on the docket today — the Kansas State women’s basketball team opens Big 12 Conference play tonight as they host the No. 6/6 Baylor Lady Bears with tip-off at 7 p.m. CST from Bramlage Coliseum. The Bears are sitting at 10-1 on the season with their sole loss coming on the road to then No. 8/9 UCLA (if you want more info on Baylor, check our SBNation’s Our Daily Bears game event info). Tonight's game will be available on Cox Channel Kansas and K-StateHD.TV, as Brian Smoller (play-by-play) and Kristin Waller (analyst) will have the call; and will be available on select portions of the K-State Radio Network with Matt Walters (play-by-play) and Shalin Klein (analyst). A win tonight would be huge for the Wildcats, who are currently sitting on a 26-game losing streak to the Bears.
Following a long holiday break, the K-State men will return to action on Friday night in Ames, IA, where the Cats and the Cyclones will each kick off their Big 12 campaigns (no official preview from K-State Sports yet).
Other
We missed bringing you a bit of happy Christmas news at the end of last week in the lead-up to the bowl game. Eric Stonestreet was at it again, this time donating a large box truck to the K-State marching band prior to their departure for Arizona (Brady Bauman, KMAN). KSNT has a link to the Facebook video posted on the K-State Alumni Band Facebook page.
