Gracey Terrill put in WORK yesterday, as she first brought us the announcement that 7 Wildcats were chosen for the All-Conference team. Then she did the same for the AP announcement which included the biggest award of them all: The Big 12’s Defense Player of the Year award going to Jordan Willis.
Finally, Gracey capped off the day with a recap of win #400 for head coach Bruce Weber.
Football
The dominant story from yesterday was Jordan Willis’ unanimous selection as first team all-Big 12. (KC Star news services.)
Even though he was a unanimous first team All-Big 12 player, Willis only won the Big 12 player of the year award by one vote over West Virginia corner Rasul Douglas. (Ken Corbitt, Capital Journal)

The All-Big 12 wasn’t the only awards announced yesterday as future Kansas State head coach former Wildcat player/assistant Brent Venables was awarded with the Broyles Award as the nations top assistant coach. (AP via kake.com)
He hadn’t taken a snap on defense in four years, but watching the game this past Saturday you’d have thought Trent Tanking was a four year starter. (Kellis Robinett, KC Star)
Basketball
It took a while to warm up the engines but the Wildcats finally started humming late in the first half, and cruised to a 74-55 victory over Prairie View A&M giving coach Weber his 400th win. (Ken Corbitt, Capital Journal)
