The Cat of the Brackets brings us up to speed on the roster countdown. He's up to #57 linebacker Colborn Couchman, also in the running for best name ever.

Preseason honors continue to trickle in for Kansas State. Bill Snyder was named to the 2015 Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year watch list along with his Big 12 colleagues Art Briles, Gary Patterson and Bob Stoops. Snyder is the only two-time winner on the watch list, having won the Dodd award in 1998 and 2012.

The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) announced watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (for best defensive player) and the Outland Trophy (for the best interior lineman). Dante Barnett, already named to the Bednarik Award watchlist, joins Danzel McDaniel on the Nagurski watch list, while Cody Whitehair is on the Outland watch list for the second consecutive season.

A'Keyla Mitchell continues to set new records. At the World University Games, she ran a blazing wind-legal 22.95s race to win a silver medal in the 200m event, besting her own school-record time by 0.8 seconds. Mitchell, one of only two sprinters to be under 23s (Viktoriya Zyabkina of Kazakhstan took gold with a time of 22.77), was the only American woman to win a medal in the sprint events.
