K-State Slate: 3.6.15 - Must-win weekend ahead

For the men's and women's team, a couple of must win games are ahead.

For Kansas State, this weekend's game against Texas may be the most important game of the season. A win means a possible post-season berth, but a loss would put the Wildcats at 15-15 and make any postseason talk moot. (Timothy Everson, K-State Collegian)

Kansas State will take on Kansas in the first round of the Big 12 tournament. Thanks to the short break between their last game and this game, it feels very much like a regular season game (John Zetmeir, Topeka Capital-Journal).

The season has been mostly about gutsy second half play for the Wildcats, and this game promises to be the same. (Liz Heath, Collegian)

The BatCats home season finally gets off the ground, with a three-game series against Santa Clara this weekend at Tointon Family Stadium. The teams have only met once before in 2008, with Santa Clara taking that game. Right-hander Nate Griep is expected to start today, with Colton Kalmus and Corey Fischer getting the nod for the next two games.

The women's track team owes its recent success to some stellar individual performers. One such performer is senior Dani Winters, who now ranks sixth in the nation in the weight throw category and has qualified for the NCAA Championships. (Zanri van Der Merwe, Collegian)
