K-State Slate: 2.14.15 - Getting off to a good start

The BatCats win the season opener, and the basketball team is set to battle the Sooners.

JT VanGilder threw out the opening pitch on our coverage of a new baseball season with the 2015 Season Preview.

Recruiting is still ongoing, and KSUEMAW! brought us the latest scoop, with news that Xavier Kelly of Wichita's East High School has committed to Kansas State.

Who beat Iowa? We beat Iowa! The baseball team got their latest campaign off to a good start, with a 5-4 win over Iowa that should provide a confidence boost and a springboard to the rest of the season. Here's JT's recap of the game: Starting in the Right Direction.

Next up for the BatCats is a Pittsburgh team and the avalanche of runs they rained down on poor St Louis yesterday.

The basketball team takes on #17 Oklahoma tonight at Bramlage. The game tips off at 7 PM. Previews and How to Watch posts will be available here shortly.

Akela Jones dominated on the first day of competition at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville. With personal bests in the long jump and the 60 m event, Jones had a record-setting day. Her last jump (6.64m) was not only the top jump of the event, it was good enough to put the junior in the top stop in Division I.
