Liberty Bowl or Bust?

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday was "Luke Thompson" day at Bring On The Cats, as he brought us both the podcast with The Smoking Musket's David Smith, as well as the first round of this week's picks from around college football, for entertainment purposes only.

Football is again our big driver heading into the final weekend of the regular season. First up, the Liberty Bowl says it is very interested in choosing K-State, regardless of final record (Robinett, Star). The Wildcats have never played at the Liberty Bowl, and would likely draw more of the "Family" than the Cactus Bowl (played in Phoenix). The Liberty Bowl would likely match the Cats up with Arkansas. Of course, there are those not happy with the situation at large (Lutz, Eagle)

The message from Will Davis is that the team wants to send out the Seniors with a win on Saturday, and earn their bowl invite (Chatmon, ESPN).

West Virginia will look to overcome their recent history against K-State, and those losses have given the upperclassmen some extra motivation for Saturday's contest (Statman, Daily Athenaeum).

Bruce Weber is trying to take it easy on his two injured post players, as both D.J. Johnson and Dante Williams are both dealing with foot injuries (Corbitt, Capital-Journal). Weber could certainly use the two big men in the rotation that lacks much height or strength inside.

The women's basketball team is finally back in action tonight, as the LadyCats take on Lady Mavericks of UT Arlington at 7pm in Bramlage Coliseum. Jeff Mittie's squad will look for better play tonight than they got from the "hangover game" against Southern last week. Also, as noted above in the men's basketball article, guard Kelly Thomson was named as one of 103 nominees for the Allstate WBCA Good Works Team.
