VolleyCats on Fire

Things get a bit quiet as we gear up for this weekend.

Yesterday at BOTC Luke brought us his Podcast featuring KnowDan from Wide Right Natty Lite. Jon and Luke then brought us their first round of picks from around college football, for entertainment purposes only (these two are both batting under .500 for the season so it can't be that serious...).

We will lead off with Volleyball, because they are doing some great things. Mainly, the VolleyCats knocked off Iowa State in straight sets in Ahearn Fieldhouse to earn their sixth-straight victory. The streak is the longest for the Cats in Big 12 play since 2003, the year the Cats won their only conference title. The Cats, who are currently sitting in third place, travel to Austin on Saturday to face the No. 5 Longhorns at 4pm.

Trying to find any edge on their competition, Travis Britz and Will Geary bring the toughness and skills learned while wrestling to the gridiron (Robinett, Eagle). The Cats may well be looking in a red-tinted mirror on Saturday, as the Cats and Cyclones may be more similar ever according to Grant Guggisberg from the Mercury. That sentiment seems shared by Ken Corbitt at the Capital Journal.

The K-State Women's Basketball team will host Coyotes of South Dakota tonight in Bramlage Colisuem, game starts at 7pm. While they have opened their season with two losses, the Coyotes won the Summit League last year, and return three starters, including Summit League Preseason POY Nicole Seekamp, to a team picked to finish second this year. This is the Wildcats final tune-up game before heading to Storrs, CT on Monday to face the defending National Champs.
