K-State Slate: 8.28.14 - Geary geared up for season

We are T-minus-2 for real live K-State football! I can practically smell the purple Kool-Aid from here.

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

We've had an avalanche of content here. Yesterday, it was three days to kickoff, so BracketCat led off with two #3s, linebacker D'Vonta Derricott, and Jack Cantele, hero.

BracketCat also analyzed the depth chart for week 1, including a few surprises.

Kitchen cooked up some game week musings, with Charlie Weis: Nap Whisperer, and the Look-Ahead Rewind takes on our most anticipated non-conference opponent in recent memory, Auburn.

KSUEMAW! broke big recruiting news: three-star point guard Barry Brown has committed to the 2015 class.

Finally, a reminder that the Week 1 storystream is up!

Redshirt freshman Will Geary has cracked the depth chart at defensive tackle, and his weight-lifting records suggest "freak."

The Top 25 Bill-ing retrospective ends with No. 25 and coverage of K-State's emphatic win over Michigan in the BWW Bowl last season. Here's Kevin Haskin's take, and Ken Corbitt celebrates the end of K-State's bowl drought.

Fansided's KC Kingdom says K-State has to be ready right out of the gate, or this is going to be a long season.

Kellis Robinett notes that Will Davis has a tough act to follow at middle linebacker, but he's well prepared and ready for the challenge.

Our purple cousins at Frogs O'War predict the conference, with the Week 0 Big 12 Power Rankings, and in a case of Kool-Aid even more purple than ours, they have TCU at the #1 spot. Hope springs eternal, at least before the first kickoff.

Vavel USA has its own Preseason Top 25 rankings, with K-State at No. 21. For your daily dose of possible DISRESPECT, look no further than their suggestion that K-State may only have pride on the line by the time the Baylor game rolls around.

K-State track-and-field boasts new staff members, Dason Phelps and Boglarka Davies, and Karol Rovelto steps into a new role. She was previously director of track and field operations.

The volleyball squad is headed to Green Bay to open the season with a two-day tournament, where they will take on Green Bay, South Dakota and Arizona.
