24 DAYS TO 2021 KICKOFF: Xavier Gordon

In which BracketCat counts down the 24th day until the 2021 kickoff with a profile of Kansas State wide receiver Xavier Gordon.

#1 Joe Gordon
The legacy continues: For the second time in a decade, a son of legendary K-State defensive back and former assistant coach Joe Gordon (1) is walking on his father’s alma mater. In 2013, it was LeAndrew, who redshirted; now, it’s Xavier.

NOTE: Kansas State has elected to advance players’ classification even though the 2020 season did not affect eligibility. Those who wish to take advantage of this extra year will be listed as a (“super”) senior again after their original eligibility would have been exhausted.

Xavier Gordon (b. June 24, 2002) is a walk-on wide receiver from Seguin High School in Arlington, Texas, who likely will redshirt during the 2021 season and plans on majoring in business administration with the hopes of eventually becoming a financial advisor.

Gordon is the son of Joe Gordon, who played at K-State from 1993 to 1996, serving as a team captain as a senior, and was an honorable mention All-American as a junior.

After a stint as an assistant coach at K-State, Gordon returned to Texas and eventually became the head football coach at Seguin High, where he coached his son, Xavier.

Xavier Gordon played quarterback for the Cougars as a senior, throwing for 1,150 yards and 13 touchdowns on 67-of-103 aim, while he also rushed for 151 yards on 20 carries a year after missing his junior campaign due to injury. But he will be a wide receiver at K-State.

Xavier has five other siblings, including LeAndrew, who walked on at K-State in 2013 and redshirted before eventually leaving the team.
