6 DAYS TO 2020 KICKOFF: C.J. Horton

In which BracketCat counts down the sixth day until the 2020 kickoff with a profile of Kansas State wide receiver C.J. Horton.

No. 89 tends to be more of a tight end number, as modeled here by the now-graduated Blaise Gammon (89). But now it will be worn by walk-on freshman wide receiver C.J. Horton in 2020.

  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • Previous College: None
  • Projection: Redshirt
  • Status: Walk-On

C.J. Horton (b. May 3, 2001) is a taller walk-on wide receiver from Fort Scott High School who plans on majoring in physical therapy and is likely to redshirt in 2020 to gain weight.

With another 30 to 40 pounds, Horton almost could project as a potential future tight end.

He played for the Tigers under head coaches Bob Campbell and Bo Graham, earned honorable mention all-state honors as a senior from both The Topeka Capital-Journal and The Wichita Eagle, and was selected to play in the Kansas Shrine Bowl.

Horton was a four-year member of the Fort Scott honor roll, so he should do well academically.
