In which BracketCat counts down the sixth day until the 2020 kickoff with a profile of Kansas State place kicker Owen Lawson.

Things I’ll never get used to on this roster: 1) defensive tackles wearing No. 1 and No. 5. 2) Defensive tackles not wearing No. 99 like graduated senior Trey Dishon (99). 3) Kickers like Owen Lawson wearing No. 99. It’s upside down!

Owen Lawson (b. Sept. 24, 2001) is a walk-on place kicker from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He is likely to redshirt in 2020,, then back up both Blake Lynch and Ty Zentner, and he plans on majoring in entrepreneurship.

Lawson played for the Hawklets under head coach Tony Severino.

He was viewed as the 25th-best punter in the Class of 2020 by Kohl’s Kicking, while the organization ranks him No. 75 as a kicker.

Lawson went 8 for 11 on field goals en route to first-team all-state honors from the Missouri Football Coaches Association in 2019. He also averaged 41 yards per punt.
