Things won’t exactly be back to normal with no tailgating and a limited crowd Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. However, there will be football with Arkansas State in town to challenge the Wildcats, and Wichita Eagle/KC Star beat writer Kellis Robinett gives us plenty of reasons for optimism for Chris Klieman’s second year in Manhattan.
Senior quarterback Skylar Thompson provides a valuable veteran presence and should have some talented albeit young talents to throw to, along with a host of capable running backs behind him. Kellis likes the potential of Kansas State’s secondary and Wyatt Hubert offers some star power on the line in front of veteran linebackers Justin Hughes and Elijah Sullivan. The ‘Cats will need to shake all the rust off this week with a trip to Norman for a tough Big 12 opener coming up on Sept. 26.
You can check out Kellis’s work at kansascity.com or kansas.com, and don’t forget they offer a special sports subscription if you don’t want to pay for news.
