Kansas State vs Jacksonville: Open Game Thread

Better make sure your boss can’t see you watching the game.

Well, after a strong start to conference play with a road win at Iowa State, the Kansas St Wildcats came crashing back to Earth thanks to a visit from the Baylor Bears. No, it wasn’t like the Wildcats were going to win that game, but it was hoped that the Cats could at least make a game of it thanks to time off for the Bears. Nope.

But no time to sit around and mope. We’ve got a rare Monday afternoon game in Manhattan, so the quick turnaround should help stop the bell from ringing quite so loudly. Jacksonville isn’t exactly a powerhouse—a middling team in the Atlantic Sun that currently sits at #287 in the KenPom ratings. For reference, UMKC is at 277. They sit at 6-3, but their best win this season is over KP #283 Southern Miss, and they couldn’t even beat a Campbell team at home that sits at #252.

This is not a good team, but we’ve definitely seen the Wildcats lose games they shouldn’t already this year. Let’s hope they got over the Baylor loss quickly, and are ready for a bell-ringing of their own.

It’s a weird Monday, and we’ve got a early-afternoon tip-off from Bramlage today. The 1:01pm CT start that can be seen on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ with Ben Boyle (play-by-play) and Stan Weber (analyst) on the call.

If you haven’t subscribed to ESPN+ (and you can do so right here), you can listen to Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play) and Matt Walters (analyst) call the game on much of the K-State Sports Radio Network, and also available online via the TuneIn App and at K-StateSports.com, and satellite radio on XM 383.
