Slate: Post-Thanksgiving Feast

As you shake out of your Thanksgiving food-coma, football and men’s and women’s basketball are on the menu for K-State fans this weekend.

Football

It’s been a long and uncomfortable month since K-State football got their last win. In that span, they’ve suffered two embarrassing blow-outs and narrowly lost to an Oklahoma State team that turned right around and got beat down themselves. Needless to say, everyone involved really needs things to turn around tomorrow when the Wildcats head back to Waco to take on a Baylor team that is significantly better than 1-5 record.

If you want a good primer for Saturday’s 6 p.m. kick on ESPN2, be sure to check out this week’s Bring on the PodCats.

Men’s Basketball

The season did not get off to the best of starts last Wednesday but one can hope that Bruce Weber’s youthful bunch will come out with their hair on fire when they face former-Big 12 foe Colorado to wrap up the 2020 Little Apple Classic. The Buffaloes won their opener in definitive fashion over South Dakota and K-State will need to play significantly better if they want to get their first win of the season. Freshmen Nijel Pack and sophomore Kaosi Ezaegu made strong debut’s in their first-ever starts and senior Mike McGuirl and sophomore DaJuan Gordon had career nights so hopefully that’s a sign for more positive things on the horizon. The Cats and the Buffs will tip tonight at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

Women’s Basketball

The Lady Cats will make their first appearance of the season tonight when they open the season with an exhibition game at Newman. Jeff Mittie’s squad is picked fourth in the Big 12 and is expected to have quite a fun season ahead of them. You can watch their Maiden Voyage if you are one of the few and proud who are subscribed to the MIAA Network. Tip-Off is at 6 p.m.
