Kansas State at Oklahoma: Open Game Thread

Big 12 play is finally here, and the Wildcats are in Norman to start 2020 against the Sooners.

A win is a win, especially when things are looking pretty bleak.

A win last Sunday knocked the Kansas State Wildcats out of a couple of losing skids, both the in-season one, as well as the three-game skid to Tulsa. And, keeping them away from a bad historical footnote, made sure the Cats put up seven wins before the start of conference play (an will have a very-slim chance at eight wins in the non-conference against Alabama later this season).

But all that is, basically, over now. It’s a new year, and the start of Big 12 Conference play, and the Wildcats have a chance to start anew and get this season headed back in the right direction. And that starts with a trip to Norman to face off against the Oklahoma Sooners, who, while 9-3 on the season, haven’t exactly looked like world-beaters themselves. It also helps that Bruce Weber, even with bad teams, has managed to find ways to beat Lon Kruger and the Sooners more often than not, sporting a 10-4 record against the Land Thieves during his time in Manhattan (however, all four losses have come on the road).

Now we get a chance to see if the resurgence the Wildcats showed against Tulsa is a turning point, or just a smooth part in the bumpy road.

Things tip off early today, with today’s Big 12 opener scheduled for a 12:02pm CST tip from the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
