Beau Wesley Burris (b. Jan. 2, 1998) is a preferred walk-on long snapper who redshirted in 2016 and did not see any game action in 2017 or 2018. Now that Dalton Harman and David Tullis have graduated, Burris is the clear front-runner for primary snapping duties in 2019.
His prep honors included being named to the all-state first team and honorable mention on the All-Sunflower League team. He also threw competed in track and field, throwing discus.
Burris played under head coaches Jeff Meyers and Jesse Owen at Olathe High School East, where he helped to lead the Hawks to an 8-3 record as a freshman in 2012, and a 9-3 mark and a district championship as a sophomore in 2013.
He also tallied six solo tackles from his long snapping position.
“Wesley is a very solid athlete who can play multiple positions on the football field,” said KCKicking.com.
“His size, speed and athleticism will help him to easily develop his snapping skills, and in turn, increase his snapping velocity and accuracy. He is very coachable. ... Wesley’s snapping skills are comparable to those a few years older than him.”
Here’s what Sports in Kansas, which named Burris one of its 25 specialty players to watch in 2015, had to say:
Burris, ranked as a four-star long snapper in the country, has over 150 in-game snaps in which none have been bad. Burris features great strength, benching 285 pounds and squatting 385, while showing the ability to cover with some decent quickness.
