Well, some things happened last week, but it’s best we not talk about it. Eric will do plenty of that tomorrow.
Tonight, Kansas State will have a great opportunity to get their heads back into the game, and the team, and right the S.S. WeberCats before the ship gets bashed too hard against the rocks and sprouts too many leaks to fix.
While things certainly could have gone better in Florida, the Wildcats are no strangers to bizarre losses in the non-conference. Bruce Weber teams start slowly, and that’s something we just have to remind ourselves of at the start of every season.
But that doesn’t mean that tonight’s game isn’t important. A third-straight loss would be incredibly troubling, especially considering the level of opponent. Bradly may not be world beaters, but they would certainly look fine against tonight’s opponent. Florida A&M enters tonight’s game at 0-5 on the season, with it’s best showing a neutral site loss to South Dakota in Hawai’i two weeks ago as part of the “B-side” bracket. It’s not a team that strikes fear into a Power 6 opponent. Or shouldn’t anyway.
But they should put some fear into these Wildcats — because maybe they need a little fear, and definitely a lot of fire, to galvanize this collection of players into an actual team that is capable of competing in the Big 12 and beyond.
Tonight’s game, scheduled for a 7:02pm CST tip, can be see on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ with Ben Boyle (play-by-play), Stan Weber (analyst), and Missy Heidrick (sidelines) on the call. If you haven’t signed up for ESPN+ yet (and you can do so right here), you can listen to Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play) and Matt Walters (analyst) call the game on much of the K-State Sports Radio Network, and also available online via the TuneIn App and at K-StateSports.com.
