Football

Apparently the Oakland Raiders are becoming the west coast Kansas State. Earlier this off-season they signed Jordy Nelson, and Emmanuel Lamur. Yesterday they signed former Wildcat kicker Matt McCrane. McCrane will take over for injured Mike Nugent.

In current Wildcat news, Dalton Risner was named a semifinalist for the Campbell trophy. (staff reports, Salina Post)

Things that have happened the year Texas last beat K-State on the road. There was no Twitter, Facebook, YouTube or Instagram. Xbox and Blackberry debuted, and Spider Man topped the box office. There are many others, and our friends at Burnt Orange Nation were kind enough to put together a more comprehensive list. (Corey Elliot, Burnt Orange Nation)

Basketball

Yesterday was media day for the Wildcats, and some interesting tidbits were released. Both Kamau Stokes and Dean Wade are now healthy, and the lucky lavender uniforms will return this season. (Greg Woods, The Mercury)

Bruce Weber is clearly embracing the higher expectations, going so far to say that he’s surprised the Wildcats aren’t rated higher even with so much talent returning from an Elite 8 squad. (Arne Green, Capital Journal)

Cartier Diarra also sounded off of the expectations facing the Wildcats this season in this video courtesy of Kellis Robinett.
