We’ll jump right in to the good stuff today.
Yesterday, the Big 12 Conference announced it’s selections for the Male and Female Sportsperson of the year for the 2017-18 year. K-State’s Dalton Risner garnered the award that recognizes student-athletes who display an extraordinary degree of sportsmanship, community service and academic achievement. Risner, who just completed an All-American campaign in 2017, joins fellow Wildcats Kim Woodlee (WBB, 2000-01) and Whitney Pyle (WGolf, 2012-13) in earning the award.
K-State Sports continues their work to keep us updated on summer baseball featuring Wildcats. To note, Cam Thompson, who will be headed into his junior campaign next season, is hitting .342 with a team-leading .468 OBP for the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League. The Mariners are currently leading their division. Also, former Wildcat Nick Martini got his first major league hit last week when he knocked a pinch-hit go-ahead single in the eighth inning of the Oakland Athletics game against the Chicago White Sox on June 21st.
K-State Women’s Basketball and K-State Athletics are inviting all fans of the program to meet the 2018-19 team and coaching staff at a special Mid-Summer Bash on Sunday, July 15th from 5-7 pm (CDT) at the Ice Family Basketball Center.
