For the second time in less than two months, a Kansas State University team has sent a favored Kentucky team home from the NCAA Tournament.
In March, it was men’s basketball team that took care of Kentucky. Today it was the women’s tennis team that defeated Kentucky, 4-3, in Evanston, Illinois.

K-State fell behind early, 1-3, and needed to win out to advance, and that is exactly what they did. Freshmen Margot Decker and Maria Linares and sophomore Ines Mesquita won the Nos. 1, 2, and 6 singles matches, respectively, to finish the comeback. Freshman Anna Turco also won her No. 5 singles match earlier in the day.
Up next, on Saturday the Wildcats will face the winner of Friday’s matchup between Northwestern and Buffalo.
