Kansas State at TCU: Open Game Thread

The Wildcats look to rebound and gain a much needed signature win as they face off against the Horned Frogs tonight.

Well, Saturday did not go well — at least if you expected the Bruce Weber-led Kansas State Wildcats to cruise past a struggling Oklahoma Sooners squad. This is the Big 12 after all, and it is still the same Wildcats who haven’t won more than three games in row in conference play.

On to the next. The Wildcats need a win tonight, but it won’t be easy. A win tonight, against the #19 RPI TCU Horned Frogs, all but punches the Wildcats ticket to the NCAA Tournament. A loss and the Wildcats need to win on Saturday at Baylor and probably their first round game of the Big 12 Tournament to feel safe come Selection Sunday.

The Wildcats won the first meeting in Manhattan on Throwback Saturday. The WIldcats will need a similar performance to win tonight. Or the Wildcats could come out flat and get blown out in Ft. Worth. Welcome to Weberville.

Tonight’s game, scheduled for a 8 p.m. CST tip-off, will be on ESPNU/ESPN3 with Matt Schick (play-by-play) and Dino Gaudio (analyst) on the call. This is the same crew that called the K-State/Baylor game in Waco, and were not live, on-site for the contest.

The game can be heard over-the-air on the K-State Sports Network with Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play) and Stan Weber (analyst) on the call (you can also listen online for free at or at Satellite radio is available on Sirius/XM 83, and “Internet” 83.
