It’s been 15 years since that glorious December nigh in 2003, when a scrappy Wildcat team beat the Greatest Football Team in College Football History. We look back at that plus notes on Women’s basketball and the coaching search.

It’s been 15 years since the greatest night in K-State football history, the night K-State won its first ever conference title. And to celebrate the 15th anniversary we’re looking back to the 10th anniversary of K-State’s beat down of the “greatest college football team in history”, with Derek Smith’s feature Ambushed.

Women’s Basketball

Let’s start with teams currently playing sports. K-State freshman center Ayoka Lee will redshirt this season as she recovers from a knee injury. (Staff Reports, Manhattan Mercury)

K-State downed Lamar last night 73-55 behind the record setting performance of Kali Jones. Jones blocked 8 shots tying her with Breanna Lewis for most blocked shots in a game. (Justin Toscano, Manhattan Mercury)

Front court depth could be a problem for the Wildcats as the season wear along. Sophomore Cymone Goodrich will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury leaving the Wildcats razor thin at guard with only five eligible players at that position. (Justin Toscano, Manhattan Mercury)

Football

And now onto the wild and uncontrollable speculation. My sources tell me we are on the verge of hiring someone as the next head coach of Kansas State football. Stay tuned for more information on who that someone might be!

Seth Littrell will fly out of New York and head back to North Texas following the National Football Foundation event, meaning there is still no confirmation that he will become K-State’s next head coach. (Brett Vito, Denton Record-Chronicle)

Outgoing QB, Alex Delton confirmed Bill Snyder did announce his own retirement in what Delton describes as a “surreal” team meeting. (Ryan Black, Manhattan Mercury)

Delton also explained his decision to transfer following the announcement of Bill’s retirement, saying a “light bulb went off in” his head upon hearing the news. (Kellis Robinett, Wichita Eagle)

Pro Football Focus announced their All-American team Wednesday afternoon, and Dalton Risner was named to the First Team offense. (Riley Gates, 247sports.com)
