Bernard Lessessne Goodwater III (b. Jan. 21, 1999) is a fast scat back who can play either the running back or slot receiver positions. He was recruited as a back, but listed as a wide receiver on Signing Day. We’ll see where he ends up after likely redshirting.
A four-year letter-winner for Carter High School in Dallas under head coach Patrick Williams, Goodwater was rated the 35th-best all-purpose back in the Class of 2017 by 247Sports, while he was named the 54th-best overall running back by Scout.
He was a three time all-district honoree for the Cowboys, including first-team honors as a junior and senior, who rushed for 1,827 yards and 19 touchdowns during his four-year career, while he totaled 500 receiving yards and another five scores.
Goodwater was a member of the state championship 4x100 team and of the school’s ROTC program, which is not something you see too terribly often in college football.
Here’s what Ian Boyd at SportsTreatise had to say about this running back prospect:
Goodwater is your typical Snyder scat-back. Their offense has been incorporating more bubble screens and sweeps in the option package, in addition to traditional pitches, and Goodwater has good hands and makes a lot of sense for them.
