59 DAYS TO 2017 KICKOFF: Drew Wiley

In which BracketCat counts down the 59th day until the 2017 kickoff with a profile of defensive tackle Drew Wiley.

#95 Travis Britz
Inverting the number 59, which is slated to be Drew Wiley’s new number, produces the number 95, which not so coincidentally used to belong to Travis Britz. I think Wiley’s physicality and potential are strongly similar to Britz’s at this age.

Andrew Lee Wiley (b. Sept. 10, 1998) is a physical, promising defensive tackle prospect from Vinton-Shellsburg High School in Vinton, Iowa. He probably will redshirt in 2017.

A three-year letter-winner for the Vikings under head coach Jim Womochil, Wiley earned first-team All-Class 3A honors from the Iowa Newspaper Association as a senior in 2016, while he was a second-team pick as a junior.

Wiley also was a three-time all-district pick, including in his senior campaign, when he was named the district defensive player of the year. He also earned a spot on The Cedar Rapids Gazette All-Area team during his final campaign.

Wiley finished his prep career with 141 tackles, 42 tackles for loss and seven sacks, including 55 stops, 25 tackles for loss and two sacks as a senior. He was selected to play in the Iowa Shrine Bowl and also lettered in wrestling, basketball, and track and field.

Wiley also drew interest from Iowa, Iowa State, South Dakota and South Dakota State.
