In which BracketCat counts down the 40th day until the 2017 kickoff with a profile of fullback Konnor Cook.

Kody Cook’s “little” brother (who’s actually bigger than him by quite a margin) is a K-Stater. Don’t expect him to bail us out at quarterback, though.

Konnor Lee Cook (b. Oct. 7, 1994) is the younger brother of Kody Cook, who played wide receiver and quarterback for the Wildcats in 2014 and 2015. Although he hails from an athletic pedigree, Konnor is not as talented as his multifaceted older brother.

Konnor Cook played four seasons at Louisburg High School under head coach Garry Griffin. He helped to lead the Wildcats to a combined 34-12 record during his four years, including a perfect 14-0 sophomore campaign in 2010 that culminated with a state championship and his earning second-team All-State honors as a defensive tackle.

Cook played in six games at Coffeyville Community College in 2013 under head coach Aaron Flores, helping the Ravens to earn a 4-5 record. After that, it gets murky. He participated in spring practices in 2014 under Rion Rhodes at Hutchinson Community College, his brother’s alma mater, but did not play. I assume he redshirted in 2015.

Cook did not see any action in 2016, either, but started for the White team at fullback in the 2017 spring game, suggesting he is first in line to success Austin Katsorelos as Winston Dimel’s primary backup and poised to end his three-year playing drought. But he’ll have to hold off sophomores Ben Ewing and Terrance Richards in order to do so.
