It was slim pickings for K-State players who have been photographed wearing No. 84. So instead we have a picture of a K-State opponent wearing No. 84, from one of our uglier bowl games. Yay us!

Matt Brett Jones (b. April 19, 1996) is a walk-on JUCO tight end who went through 2016 spring practices at Pittsburg State, but decided during the summer to transfer.

Jones played under his head coach and father, Butch Jones, at Marais des Cygnes Valley High School. He earned all-state honors as both a junior and senior from The Wichita Eagle and The Topeka Capital-Journal; was selected to play in the 2014 Kansas Shrine Bowl, in addition to the Kansas 8-Man All-Star Game; and lettered in basketball.

He then played two seasons at Butler Community College under head coaches Troy Morrell and Tim Schaffner.

Jones earned first-team NJCAA All-Region VI and all-conference honors in 2015 at Butler after hauling in four catches for 45 yards in seven games. He helped the Grizzlies to earn a two-year combined record of 17-5.

Jones played for the White team in the 2017 spring game, but collected no statistics.
