97 DAYS TO 2017 KICKOFF: Logan Stoddard

In which BracketCat counts down the 97th day until the 2017 kickoff with a profile of defensive tackle Logan Stoddard.

#97 Melvin Williams
So far, Logan Stoddard has had no playing time in the program. But if he gets on the field this season, I don’t look for him to have quite the same impact as, say, a Melvin Williams (97).

Logan Charles Stoddard (b. June 11, 1996) is a walk-on defensive tackle from Highland Community College. He started for the White team in the spring game and I currently project him in a tie with Mitch Copeland for the backup spot vacated by Matt Seiwert.

A four-year letter-winner at linebacker for Wamego High School under head coaches John Scoggins and Dale Burkholder, Stoddard picked up all-state honors from The Wichita Eagle and The Topeka Capital-Journal as a senior in 2013, in addition to earning all-league and all-area honors as a junior and senior for the Red Raiders.

He also was a four-year letter-winner in baseball and powerlifting, earning consecutive league championships and all-league honors as a catcher in baseball, while he was the Kansas Class 4A state runner-up in powerlifting as a senior.

After redshirting in 2014, Stoddard played in 10 games during the 2015 season for the Scotties under head coach Aaron Arnold. He came away with 34 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery.

Stoddard also had a season-high seven tackles in the season finale at Dodge City, bettering his previous season high of six stops at Iowa Central (ICCC). He had a season-high 1.5 tackle for loss at ICCC and a sack against Coffeyville.

Stoddard did not see any game action in 2016 for the Wildcats. His stepmother, April, is an accountant for K-State Athletics.
